2010 Classes &
Workshops
Block of the Month
Quilt
"Civil
War Tribute"
Saturday January
9th,2010
REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
This has to be one of the neatest
quilts we have found and since it is a Civil War era quilt it fits us to
the "T". The fabrics are really grand, we love them all, and they
are designed by Judie
Rothermel one of our favorite designers
for
Marcus Brothers fabrics.
The pattern is designed
by Homestead Hearth. We like the patterns because you are given
the backgrounds and some history with each block.
Your monthly pattern and kit will run $23.95
and our class fee for your instruction will be only $10.00 per class.
Here are some other options: This
Block of the Month can also be mailed out and then you would not have a
class fee but would pay the postage. We can also just sell the
pattern. The pattern sells for $60.00 or we can sell you the
entire kit for $287.40. Lots to think about but I think this is
just one of the best quilts we have seen for a block of the month and we
are confident however you choose to participate or just order your
preference it will be one of your favorite quilts when you finish.
I am going to give you a look at the
first block and our Schoolroom. We had our first class this past
weekend 1-9-10 and it was a hit. We had 6 in class today and will
have 9 next month and it is still not too late to join us we would take
up to 12 but that is the max. You can kind of see the first blocks
up on the front counter we worked on today and we will put up more as we
progress. The line of fabric is so beautiful.
Vickie Gerike will
be
teaching this quilt for us beginning in January 2010. Vickie is
our pattern writer in the shop and designs her own patterns that we
proudly sell in the shop. She is a very experienced quilter and
teacher and I know you will really enjoy her as your teacher. We do
stress that you must of taken a basic quilting class.
We are very
excited to be breaking in our new schoolroom for this class on Saturday
January 9th . We are thinking Saturdays will be better
for our working girls and the class will begin
at 10 am and should be finished by 2pm in the afternoon.
After this we will try and run each New Block on the
first Saturday of the month.
Vintage Quilt Club
Classes
Registration open
January 13th, 2010
10am - 2pm
This is a new
class/club idea we would like to present to you. Vickie Gerike
will be your instructor. We will plan on meeting on the 2nd Wednesday
of every month
and
work on a new quilt every 3 months. Our first project is a quilt
Vickie has designed called "Little Irene" which is 49 x 63. This
is one of the neatest looking quilts and really fits into the vintage
quilt theme we all love. We do have kits available for $65.00. A $10.00
class fee and the pattern is required but if you choose to use your own
fabrics that is ok. Vickie will be a wonderful
instructor and I know you are going to enjoy her vintage quilt patterns.
"OPEN SEW"
IN OUR NEW
SCHOOLROOM
*BEGINS MONDAY
JANUARY 18TH
(going forward it
will be the 3rd Monday of the month)
10am - 2pm / Cost $10.00
*We had our first
open sew day today January 18th and this where you will meet and make
new friends that enjoy the art of handwork. It is a great way to
get things done and get yourself excited over the art of quilting with
friends you will undoubtedly learn something new too. I think it
just might be better than a shrink. Please feel free to join us,
please remember to call and let us know if you will be joining us.
You are invited to
come in and work on whatever you want, we will have teachers available
if you need any help or just enjoy good friends and make new. BYO lunch
or we can call out for pizza, something from the General Store it will
just be great fun. Linda Lautenschlager from Chessie and Me has
indicated she would love to be a part of this idea as we know there are
several people that admire cross stitch and would love to learn how.
You will never find a better teacher for beginning cross stitch,
learning to work on linen and she can help you with punch needle either
beginning or just refresh you. If we end up with a group there
will probably be a different fee to pay Linda's teaching fee.
Civil War Homefront

photo just as soon as Suzanne quilt comes back from the quilter.

This striking repro

quilt historian Barbara Brackman has designed. This new line

fabric recalls the spirit and ingenuity of the Southern woman. The
fabrics in this quilt come together to make a simple stars-on-point
block, the block size is nine inches.
Suzanne will teach
this quilt in two sessions the cost will be $30.00.
You can
purchase the quilt kit which has all of the original fabrics and comes
with the pattern or we can help you pick your own.
We will offer the
first session on Thursday January 28th or Saturday January 30th we must
have a minimum of 3 students to have this class so call your friends and
think about joining us.
You will find Suzanne to be a great resource when it comes to teaching
quilt making, she is a seasoned quilter and has taught many classes, she
designs many patterns and knows quilting inside out. We hope you
